Nanostructurally Controllable Strong Wood Aerogel toward Efficient Thermal Insulation

Atualizado: 5 de mar. de 2023

Wood aerogel is a promising material for thermal insulation due to its low thermal conductivity and high porosity. However, the mechanical strength of wood aerogel is still relatively low, which limits its application in practical engineering. To address this issue, we propose a nanostructurally controllable strong wood aerogel (NCSWA) for efficient thermal insulation. The NCSWA is fabricated by combining nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) with wood aerogel. The NFC is used to reinforce the wood aerogel, resulting in a material with improved mechanical strength and thermal insulation performance. The NCSWA can be tailored to meet specific thermal insulation requirements by controlling the nanostructure of the NFC. This approach provides a promising strategy for developing advanced materials for efficient thermal insulation.
