The World's Largest Timber Building

Atualizado: 12 de jan. de 2023

How the world's largest cross-laminated timber (CLT) building was constructed in London's Dalston

The world's largest CLT building, Dalston Lane, was constructed in London's Dalston neighborhood in 2020. The building is a nine-story, mixed-use development that includes retail, office, and residential space. The construction of the building began with the installation of the CLT panels. The panels were prefabricated off-site and then transported to the site for assembly. The panels were then connected together using steel connectors and bolts. Once the panels were connected, the structure was then reinforced with steel beams and columns. The next step was to install the exterior cladding. This was done using a combination of brick, metal, and glass panels. The brick panels were installed first, followed by the metal and glass panels. The interior of the building was then fitted out with insulation, drywall, and other finishes. The building was then connected to the local utilities and services. Finally, the building was completed with landscaping and other exterior features. The building is now a landmark in the Dalston neighborhood and a testament to the potential of CLT construction.
